The Airshow Reminds Me Of The Unsung Heroes

The recent airshow reminds me of my national service in the Air Force back on the year 2001. If I remembered correctly, 5 of us (national service technicians) and 1 senior specialist were in charge of pumping the red dye on all the A4 aircrafts (Black Knight) during national day. It was real hard work. We had to wear a pair of googles and gloves, "butcher coat" , oxygen mask and pulled our overall sleeves to hand level , mixing and pumping the dye under the scorching hot sun. My friends and I used to laugh and called out "butcher at work" at one another as our gears were covered with "fresh red blood". I remembered how worried everyone were, especially my senior specialist, whether the dye was able to diffuse visibly on the actual day itself! I got a sigh of relief when my parents called and told me that the dye was indeed very very red..hahaha

It was bit disappointed as the focus were belong to the pilots. As for our rewards, a few days off from work.

I hereby would like to send my respect to the backstage people who are either mixing the dyes on the airshow or the coming national day, Good job guys!

Financial Freedom - How People Propose

Everyone has their own way of proposing in a marriage. I shall say the typical Singaporean guys propose will be " Darling, do you wanna accompany me to view the new built HDB flat ?" On the other hand westerners, based on what I've seen from TV shows, one hand holding a ring, the other a bouquet of flowers and ask " __, will you marry me?"

More Women are Proposing Marriage

According to the Korbel Champagne Cellars Proposal Survey of 1,000 adults, 59% don't think men are the only ones who can propose. Although apparently one in three Americans know a gal who proposed, less than 50% of the women surveyed actually said they would propose. The survey also revealed continued importance of traditions such as getting down on one knee, and asking for permission from the fiance's family.......

What about other countries and what kind of action must the men do to show to the woman that one is proposing a marriage to her?

Financial Freedom - Creative Idea From A Plumbing Services Company

I'm impressed with this particular plumber and decided to write about his creative solution in my blog.

There was a major water pipe leakage in my bathroom, so I logged onto the net and checked for plumbing services. The feedback I received during the call was that there would be an extra charge of $10 for home inspection. Only this plumber, which sensed my dismay, suggested having it snapped and send via email. This way, he need not have to waste time travelling and at the same time, able to help customers saved money.

Thumbs up!

Financial Freedom - Sports Climbing Course Level 1

Yesterday morning, went to Tessensohn Civil Service Club to attend the 1 day Sports Climbing Course Level 1. The registeration fee was $50 and a total of about 12 people had turned up for this event. At 10.23, we proceeded our way to a small classroom where we learnt the use of correct harness usage, figure of 8 knot, different types of walls, maintenance of equipments...

level one sport climbing certificate

Climbing Course Level 1 are only eligible for Top-rope climbing. Climbers will need to tie the figure of 8 knot to the harness and whereas for the belayer, their job is to protect or cushion the climbers fall. This is done by ensuring the SMF and rope are fasten together with the carabiner.

top-rope climbing

Everyone did their practices near the indoor wall before heading for lunch. After the break, were we then started our first step on the wall! At that moment, I can felt the Adrenalin pumping from where I started till reaching to the top. Of course, there were negative thinkings which crossed my mind like "what if the rope snaps or what if the knot was loose..the consequences would caused serious injury or even death"...Despite all these, my partner and I continued to move on to reach the top.

I really enjoyed myself and also got to know many new friends as well. At the end of the course, everyone was given a certificate in a wallet size format, booklet and 1 free climb ( expire 3 months). Can't wait to climb again...

The normal water drainage

Our innovation

Who says we should follow the normal plumbing way. Well, my dad and I came up with a brilliant idea by using one aluminium pipe and a normal hose. It works very well indeed

Go India - 1 King Of Sea Lobster $26.00
First time tried eating a lobster. Body portion was where the meat lies....Yummy

Go India Naan - Garlic $5.00
Had tried other Naans and this was considered the best. It doesn't taste bitter compare to some.

Go India - Pullao Steam Rice $6.00
Very different from the traditional rice in terms of shape and taste. It's longer and thinner.

Go India - 1 Carom Fish Curry $20.00
Not spicy at all. The combination of both the fish and gravy were superb!

Go India - Very unique way of placing their fork and knife compare to the western culture.

Sheesha is also available. Cost about 20++. Did not try as my family members were around. Well, probably next time. I shall say it's an interesting place to hang out with friends...Don't always go to the same old japanese or chinese restaurants, try this out.

Financial Freedom - Network Express Gained 1 Curious Customer

This is to show how powerful newspaper advertisements are. After reading yesterday's article, I decided to find out more about Network Express. Surprisingly, I might be using their delivery services as some of my customers are located overseas.

After all, the rise of ERP charges in some ways does help to gain an awareness to the public.

Financial Freedom - ST Article Dated 6 Feb 08

With respond to one of the Straits Time articles , there's a rising concerns with ERP charges especially on those local delivery companies. The managing director of Network Express stated that in order to cushion off its business cost, which makes several thousands of deliveries per day, they might alter the delivery charges to their customers.

I suggest having part-timers/freelance delivery personnel at every location in Singapore. Priority packages to be send by full-time staff. As for normal packages, part-timers/freelance (who own bicycle/walk or bike/car) are able to do the job. Payment to them can be by per package or by weight. This might save quite a considerable amount on the ERP charges.
